Better Directors, Better Business and a Better Economy

Glasgow & West of Scotland Committee

Chairman: David Hoey, Employment Law Partner, bto solicitors

Hoey, David_with jacketWelcome to the Glasgow and West of Scotland Branch of the IoD.

With a membership in excess of 570 and growing we represent around a third of all the IoD members in Scotland. We are a broad region with members from the West Coast to Harthill, and down to Dumfries and Galloway.

Our Committee of 15 works hard to bring great local events to our members, as well as being a go-to point for contacts and advice, on anything IoD related. Our events this year have included Influencers’ Dinners with leading business figures, workshops and seminars on a broad range of issues from reputation management to outstanding leadership, and we regularly hold social events such as whisky matched dinners and networking receptions. Our flagship event is the annual Christmas reception where our members join with us in fundraising for our chosen charity. You’ll find details of all these events and future events on the IoD Scotland website and in your monthly IoD Scotland newsletters as well as the specific invites we send you.

Our members tell us that coming to events and engaging with other members is how they maximise the benefits from their membership, and we would agree. IoD is a fantastic national organisation and network, but you can’t beat local knowledge and local connections to help your business thrive. We are fortunate to have the stunning 200SVS as our Glasgow Hub – available for use by members and guests, with free wifi and a free coffee for each member. Meeting space and conference rooms are available to hire at a discount.

On a final note, if there’s anything my Committee or I can do to support you or your business, please do not hesitate to be in touch. We welcome feedback on what we do and how we do it. And, if you’re interested in getting more involved, we occasionally recruit new Committee members when spaces become available, so let me know if that’s of interest.

We’re here to support you to maximise the benefit of your IoD membership, so don’t be a stranger – we’d love to hear from you.
